Grating types and applications
One of the main activities of our company is the distribution of gratings, stair treads and their accessories, from the product range of various Hungarian or European manufacturers. Thanks to our diversified sources of supply, we are able to provide solutions for the most varied customer needs, whether they are stock or customized, from pressed grids (P), or welded (SP) grating and about stairs, or even large natural or galvanised slabs.
Gridded walkways for safe pedestrian and vehicle traffic
The walkways consist of flat bars (main ribs) and cross bars (secondary ribs) on their edges, which, with appropriate support, are arranged flush on the upper side to form a uniform walking surface with a load-bearing capacity depending on the cross-section and density of the main ribs.

L - length of the main rib (the load-bearing flat steel)
B - length of side rib (transverse flat steel)
h - height of main rib
When specifying the dimensions of the grids, the first dimension is the length of the main rib!
The grilles are made of S235 quality steel, in accordance with DIN 24537, and in the case of galvanized surfaces, corrosion protection is in accordance with EN ISO 1461.
The "SP" type welded grating can also be made of INOX 304 and INOX 316 stainless steel.
These types of grids can be used in a wide range of applications:
- pedestrian traffic on bridges and walkways within industrial and warehouse facilities
- external and internal staircases and landings, spiral staircases
- walkways for trams, ramps
- sewer and mine clearance
- as elements of the internal and external facades of buildings, as shading or decorative elements
- in external car parks, laid on gravel, filled with gravel to avoid mud
- walking surfaces of planks, stilts, pontoons,
- as partition elements
- warehouse use, as shelving elements
Grid structure types
Pressed gratings type "P"

"P" type pressed gratings are made by notching the load-bearing main ribs and pressing the transverse side ribs into each other, with a pressure of up to 800 tonnes. The main and secondary ribs of the pressed grating are also made of LP flat steel.
This method of grid production ensures a uniform and precise distribution of the grid, which is therefore also characterised by a high aesthetic quality. The load-bearing and transverse flat bars interconnected during pressing make the grating surface very stable.
The load-bearing flat steel bars used in the production of pressed bars can be 20 ÷ 50 mm high and 2 ÷ 5 mm thick, while the transverse flat steel bars can be 10 ÷ 15 mm high and 2 ÷ 3 mm thick.
Grid spacing (mm)

a - axial distance of the main ribs
h - height of main rib
g - main rib thickness
a1 - axial distance of the side ribs
h1 - height of the minor rib
g1 - thickness of the collateral rib
Type "P" pressed grids can be divided according to the following table:

It is also possible to manufacture P grating and P treads with a pitch different from the basic pitch given above, while maintaining a multiple of 11.1 mm.
Welded gratings of type "SP"

Welded press bars of the "SP" type are made of parallel load-bearing flat bars joined transversely by a 5 mm diameter round grooved or helical bar so that these elements form a plane on the upper surface of the bar. Welded gratings are given their superior stability at each rib junction by means of a pressure resistance weld, making it the most common type of grating produced in large panel sizes.
Splitting of "SP" grids

The distances (in the material axis) between the main ribs are 15.08 mm, 30.16 mm, 34.3 mm and 68.6 mm, and between the crossbars are 22.4 mm, 38.1 mm, 50.8 mm, 76.2 mm and 101.6 mm.
The most common pitch, also available as a stock product, is 34.3 x 38.1 mm.
Our products
Gratings
The "P" and "SP" trellis structures are made with LP flat steel framing on all sides as the grating elements of the podium walkways.
The dimensioning of the walkway grids should be determined by taking into account the adequately supported load-bearing girders on which the main beams rest, so that the length of the main beams - and hence the load-bearing capacity of the grid - is determined by the distance between the supporting beams. By increasing the compression of the supports, the load capacity of the walkway grating can be increased.
Steps
"P" type staircase:

"SP" type staircase:

On the narrow sides, the treads are fitted with pre-drilled mounting plates for easy and quick installation and stable fixing.

Steps can be ordered with different entry depths, the dimensions of which are shown in the table below:

Storage steps are typically 270 mm wide. Other sizes are available on request.
Safe stair climbing is ensured by the leading edge of the treads, which is provided by a convex perforated non-slip L profile.

Table grids
The slab grids are large P pressed or SP welded grids, which are an economical solution for either the rapid covering of large surfaces due to their large size, or for the rapid fabrication and subsequent galvanizing of custom-made walkway grids or stair treads.

The "SP" type welded steel slabs are manufactured in the size 6.100 x 1.000 mm, with a 6.100 mm long main beam, with LP-edging on the two longitudinal sides. For machinability, the slabs are supplied from stock with a natural surface. Galvanizing is done after machining.
The "P" type pressed slabs are available in 3.000 x 1.000 mm, galvanized or natural finish, with LP flat steel frame on all 4 sides.
The slabs are available with different cross-sections of main ribs.
Fixing fittings
The fixing of gates is very important for the safety of pedestrian traffic, to avoid accidents and injuries. Several types of purpose-designed anchorage fittings are available to suit different site conditions or grid designs.
The most common is the M plate mounting fitting, which fits the most commonly used 33-34 mm pitch grids.
The disc mounting fitting is suitable for mounting 22 mm pitch grids.
For the alignment of adjacent grids, the double alignment assembly is recommended, either with M- or disc clamping plate.

Hook fittings
As a basic rule, the walkway grilles must be clamped down by means of 4 fasteners on the corners of the grilles, by tightly fixing them to the brackets. For grids larger than 1 m², the number of anchor points should be increased.
Ladder rungs
Solid steel ladders are widely used in blast furnaces, rolling mills, mines, chemical plants and other industries where safety is paramount. Our supplying partner, who manufactures our ladder rails, has developed a range of ladder rail profiles that guarantee safe climbing. Thanks to their sizing, wall thickness and non-slip perforations, our ladder rails ensure safe movement even in extreme working conditions.
The lead lights are supplied without surface treatment as standard. The surface treatment can be hot-dip galvanizing or painting after delivery, according to the customer's requirements.

Laying of grating
When placed side by side, large, continuous walkways can be created in a short time from the gratings, mounted on prefabricated podium supports. A distance of 10 mm from the edge of the podium should be left, with a min. 5 mm mounting gap is required.
The ridge of the main ribs on the support should be equal to the height of the main rib, but min. 30 mm even for main ribs less than 30 mm high.

For reasons of economy, transport and material handling, a grid width of 1000 mm is recommended. When covering a large podium, the aim should be to cover as large an area as possible with 1000 mm wide grids, so that individual size grids are only placed at the edges.
For grids with a wind speed exceeding 1400 mm, the grids are made in 2 pieces.

- smooth-surfaced walkways in non-slip class R10 (P, SP)
- for the non-slip recesses on the side rib, the grating is R11 (P, SP)
- for the side and main rib recesses, the grating can be classified as R12 (P)
Pattern of indentations
Trapezoidal pattern

Sawtooth pattern

Shaped grating designs, cut-outs, ankle plates
Shaped grating is a unique and varied form of grating made from a technical drawing.
Shapes other than rectangular are possible, sized taking into account the smallest rectangular size that the shaped grid will fit, by defining the orientation of the main rib and the secondary rib.
In the case of shaped grids, it is possible to create straight or curved cut-outs or openings, as well as ankle plates, which are always closed with a suitable edge plate. The parameters of the shaped cut-outs and ankle strips must, because of their specific nature, be laid down in each case in an individual agreement.

The "SP" welded grating can also be made of INOX 304 and INOX 316 stainless steel.
